This is a recorded interview with Sture Hegerfors that was presented at The Contemporary Nordic Comics Research Conference at Malmö University, October 7-8 2021. Sture Hegerfors was invited as guest of honour and interviewed by Gunnar Krantz and Fredrik Strömberg (on zoom). Sture Hegerfors, holds the position as President of The Swedish Academy of Comic Art since it’s formation in 1965 and his contribution to the field of comics, as organizer, journalist, author and scholar can not be underestimated. We are therefore happy to be able to present this interview, which focuses on the early years, both in Sweden and on the international plane and the events that resulted in the formation of both The Swedish Academy of Comic Art and The Swedish Comics Association, which he also headed for almost a decade.
